A remembrance …

Have you ever heard of Girard Perregaux? The first time I heard that name was when a former classmate showed me this watch given to her by her father. It was admittedly kind of big for her, but she cherished it because it was the only thing left of her father, which he gave to her, before he died.
She only showed it to me the day his father died. She arrived at the dormitory looking for me and then told me simply, “my father’s dead”. I was speechless. Kind of uncomfortable,too, since I really had no idea what to say. All I remember saying was, “I’m sorry.”
That was more than ten years ago…
