I was recently tagged by Sasha about this interesting meme … the reason why I decided to monetize my blog.

We all have our own reasons why we do the things that we do, and for some people, your way (or my way) might not sit well with them. I respect their opinions, and am hoping that they will respect mine.

I actually started blogging because I wanted to post my pictures. As simple as that! But it all became “complicated” when I noticed that I wasn’t that satisfied with my camera anymore. Hubby presented me with a new camera and pretty soon (like, about a year later) I felt that it was somehow lacking, too.

You know the feeling … like, you have this cellphone for some time … you like it a lot, but after about three years it’s already outdated? You don’t? Then it must just be me … lol.

This time, though, I don’t want hubby to give me the camera that I want ( canon eos 40D). But being a SAHM, I had no idea how I will be able to get that much cash … pretty impossible, I first thought. That is, until I read about a blogger post regarding her first dslr (digital single lens reflex) camera, which she bought through her problogging activities! That certainly sparked my decision to turn my blogger blog into a monetized blog. Pretty soon, after getting my own domain, I decided to do the same, too!

But now that I have the cash (and more), it somehow seems so trivial using most of it on just one object, the camera. So I have instead decided to “give” most of it away, to family members. Christmas season or not, I know I’ll be happier this way. Nope, I’m not being a martyr here, or anything. I am just doing what’s best for everyone. Including myself.

Besides, if I continue with my problogging activities, pretty soon I will be able to raise the same amount, too!

I hope LordManilaStone and Zen will be able to share with us their reason(s) why they have monetized their blogs, too.

No pressure; just share with us if you feel like it.

Okay, sureness! I’ll do this! Mai, imagina nlang akong camera! And when I “hinted” to hubby like few months ago na nagpro-blog ko kai na encourage ko and that I wanted a new cam, ingon cya na ngano daw nagbalibad ko nag-offer cya sa ako magbuy new cam last time he was in Jap?! OMG, nakalimot ko! Ha! Nibalibad diay ko…! Mao lagi ning trying hard to resist the temptation of new tech and cge “ayaw, save lang ta money” bah! Bwahaha! Karon lang man gud na-pen akong eyes sa need to buy new cam! Hahah..Too late realization kaayo ko!..And since dili na cya makabalik didto kai nagchange cya company, nah mangita nlang mi lain mo-buy…toink! What a what!

Hello Maiylah! Thanks for entertaining this tag and sharing your honest thoughts. The response this meme is getting is becoming exciting…we get to share our stories with other probloggers and non publishers too.
I admire you for placing your family’s need first…I know you’ll be blessed with your dream camera someday…Canon Rebel XTi (400D) rocks!

Thanks for doing the tag sis Hay, ganon naman yata di ba? Kapag hawak mo na ang pera parang nanghihinayang kang ilabas ng isang buhos lang tapos para sa sarili mo pa. Ako nga yung goal ko na laptop eh sobra-sobra na na-raise kong money to buy one pero eto at tyaga sa desktop na luma namin kasi nakakahinayang! Hahahah… Mas ok kung buong family makikinabang kesa ako or tayo lang

hahaha, everything happens for a reason, Zen!
wala pa diay ko naka-adto sa bank kay dili man ko maka-apply online! kung maka-libre ko this week, adto ko ila branch medyo duol dire sa balay.
naa diay dire manila imo hubby?

hehe, ako sad usahay, sige lang ug type … diha na diay to mga sayop!

you said it!! parang ang hirap isipin na yung amount na yun ginastos mo para lang sa sarili mo, diba? Well, at least marami ka nang nagawa para sa family mo, sis … ako wala pa! hahaha.

kaya opportunity ko na to na this time ako naman ang magbibigay. pagkatapos nito, siguro pwede na ako bumili ng camera ko.

or maybe not yet. hahaha
